Volkswagen Golf GTD estate to be revealed at Geneva 2015

Golf GTD Estate 1

Volkswagen is set to reveal its first ever Golf GTD estate at the Geneva motor show in March this year. The GTD logo promises sporty yet economical motoring and this is the first time that it graces the Golf estate. Promising to compete with the Focus ST diesel estate, the GTD is fitted with a 2.0Litre turbo-diesel engine pumping out 182bhp and 280lb ft of torque. When compared to the Focus ST estate, the Golf will be left eating the Ford’s dust as it churns out just under 250bhp.

Where the Focus will terrorize the Golf in a drag race, the Golf is all about stamina with a claimed fuel efficiency of over 64mpg easily beating the Ford’s 39.2mpg.

Sporty GTD bumpers adorn the estate with a honeycomb radiator grille upfront. At the rear, smoked lights and flared sills add to the look. 17-inch alloys, black roof rails and dual chrome tailpipes complete the aesthetics of this sporty Golf.

Suspension is lowered by 15mm and progressive steering add to a sharper response during high intensity driving.

All the sporty looks don’t stop on the outside; the interior is fitted with traditional GTD Clark Tartan sports seats and GTi golf-ball gear knob. There are multiple decorative inserts and panels in checkered black and stainless steel pedal caps.

The Golf GTD estate is bound to go on sale in the UK in April, with full UK pricing and specs to be revealed closer to the Geneva launch.
