This collaboration may seem like deja vu to some, that is because Daniel Arsham, famed contemporary New York artist created the Future Relics eroded Porsche 992-series 911 which was at Selfridges for its Christmas campaign in 2019, but this is different in so many ways.
Now he has been working with Porsche again to re-imagine a 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo. This time spending two years poring over every single element, researching, developing and production.
From the off-set, the car isn’t as crazy as the Future Relics 992, treated to a new white paint job, hand painted decals and livery influenced by a Porsche 935 K3 race car that raced at Le Mans and sponsored by Apple Computers. The Fuchs rims produced by Fifteen52 pay homage to those fitted to the 1974 RSR albeit with crosshatched Arsham Studio monogram.
Inside, the designer has had more to play with, using two tones of Objects For Living’s heavyweight stonewashed canvas and premium Italian leather specs by Porsche. There is also a bespoke Arsham steering wheel and hand-painted, bespoke JDM gauges to complement the look.
What about the engine? Well, it was fully restored, piston bore was enlarged and certain parts were powder coated in Arsham Studio Green, it is relatively standard.
