Dodge Ram 1500 TRX: The most American of pick-ups

In the UK we are always a little jealous of the great monsters that our American cousins get to cruise around in. Maybe not so much the rolling coal craze but the Ford F-150 Raptor is a prime example. America got that, we got the Ranger Raptor… not quite the same is it?

Now Dodge has released its most powerful, quickest and fastest pick-up truck ever with the release of the Dodge Ram 1500 TRX. It is considered as ‘the apex predator of the truck world and cements Ram Truck as North America’s off-road truck leader.’ Their words not ours.

Fitted with the 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8 with 702hp and 650lb ft, the TRX is capable of hitting 60mph in 4.5 seconds and will do the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds.

The TRX is fitted with an innovative dual-path air induction system delivers maximum output and feeds a steady supply of cool, clean air to the engine through the front grille and functional hood scoop. Such a large engine surely needs a constant stream of air, and the TRX is fitted with the largest air filter in the segment designed for extreme, dusty environments with four times the dust trapping capacity when compared to the closest competitor.

As with most hardcore off-roaders, the TRX is fitted five-link coil suspension tuned to deliver the best combination of ride, handling and comfort no matter the road surface. Wheel travel is over 13 inches per corner meaning only the largest of boulders will stop you from getting to your destination.

Prices for the Dodge Ram 1500 TRX start at $70,095 and we are very unlikely to see one in the UK for the foreseeable future.
