CUPRA’s first all electric vehicle is here – el-Born

CUPRA has confirmed its newest model, the all-electric el-Born. First revealed at the Geneva Motor show in 2019, designers have continued to tweak the design of the brand’s first all electric vehicle to what you see before you, CUPRA bronze accents and all.

Developed on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the el-Born features a 77kWh battery powering the rear wheels with a claimed range of 310 miles and can be fast charged to offer 161 miles of range in 30 minutes.

Acceleration figures are normally 0-62mph times but the el-Born is all about traffic light to traffic light so the figure we have is for 0-31mph at 2.9 seconds.

The interior is going to be familiar to those who have driven other electric cars, more space than an equivalent petrol or diesel cars thanks to the lack of a transmission tunnel. Occupants get CUPRA Sports bucket seats, the new CUPRA Steering wheel, high quality sustainably sourced materials throughout whilst the driver gets an augmented reality heads-up display and full connectivity.

The el-Born will be built at the Zwickau plant in Germany and will officially be launched in 2021.
